MOTEL Recommends in Hoxton

MOTEL’s top

spots

to visit

in Hoxton, East London

Whilst we’re not trying to say that we know everything there is to know about the area surrounding Hoxton, we do know a lot of top spots to grab a good coffee and some delicious food, maybe even a quick drink too. If you have a shoot booking at MOTEL coming up or are thinking about booking a studio, read on to hear about MOTEL’s top spots to visit in the area.

This blog post is going to act as a mini guide to all of the best places (in our opinion) that are within walking distance from MOTEL’s studios. But if you have any more recommendations, drop us a message. We’re always looking for something to spice up our lunch break!

Spot Number 1 - Molly’s Café

Our first recommendation is literally the first place you see when you leave Hoxton overground station. But that’s not the only reason it’s on our list. This café is independently run, within the Museum of the Home (which you should definitely check out if you haven’t already). The staff here are super lovely and attentive, the coffee is good and the terrace is perfect on a sunny day. Molly’s also gets super cosy on an evening, a perfect spot for a glass of wine (their selection is divine).

Summary: A quick and easy spot to grab a coffee and pastry on your way to the studios.

Spot Number 2 – Fabrique

This coffee shop is equally close to Hoxton station, you just need to take a right as you’re exiting the station (away from MOTEL). The coffee here has always been a staff favourite; Fabrique are meticulous about their ingredients. All of Fabrique’s baked goods are to die for, but the cinnamon buns specifically, are out of this world. This spot is probably the priciest recommendation on the list, but you get what you pay for, and you’re paying for the high quality ingredients that go into their scrumptious snacks and beverages.

Summary: The boutique option.

Spot Number 3 –Nutmeg n’ Koffee

Ok, I lied… this is literally the first place you’ll see when you leave Hoxton station. If Nutmeg n’ Koffee’s funky truck is parked up, make sure to grab yourself a coffee on your way past. Nutmeg n’ Koffee only recently claimed their turf in Hoxton earlier this year. The coffee truck is an independently run business and the team behind it are so driven and kind, they’re sure to put a spring in your step. They serve up an array of beverages, and have a small selection of pastries and fruit on offer as well. If you regularly work in the area, and regularly visit the team here, they not only have a loyalty card but they also hand out free fruit every now and again; a nice neighbourly touch.

Summary: Support an independant business and feel part of a community.

Spot Number 4 –Music & Beans

Music & Beans is another spot that only recently opened up shop in Hoxton earlier this year, on Hackney Road (near the Tesco). This recommendation is an all-rounder; great coffee and bakes, delicious lunch options to eat-in and they stay open well into the evening. Whether you need a serious caffeine hit or a post-work cocktail, Music & Beans is a cool spot to check out.

Summary: They cover all bases.

Spot Number 5 –Bagel Master

Bagel Master is located on Cremer Street, a stones throw from Kingsland Road and Hoxton station. As mentioned in our email newsletter, do not be fooled by their lack of social media presence. Bagel Master offer no-fuss bagels, sandwiches, wraps and jacket potatoes. They’re not here to be the coolest or most-instagrammable spot in town, they’re here to give the people what they want (a toasted bagel) – and their coffee isn’t half bad either.

Summary: Good selection of bagels, but avoid peak times or you’ll be stuck in a long queue.

That’s it for now! There’s (obviously) a million coffee and lunch spots all over East-London, we’ve barely covered the tip of the iceberg. But we have listed five honestly good options, and each one is just minutes away from MOTEL. So, the next time you’re on the way to your shoot at MOTEL, pop in to one of these and then let us know what you think.

Don’t forget, if you’re organising a shoot at MOTEL and you know it’s going to be a busy one, just let us organise your catering. We work with Wolf & Lamb to organise catering to fit your budget, and offer both breakfast and lunch options. We’ve made it super-easy to add your catering options onto your studio booking when you book online as well.

If you want something that’s even easier to organise for your team, there’s a tablet set up in each studio which we’ve connected to a studio Deliveroo account; meaning you can easily order anything you’d like to the studio on the day, and we’ll add it to your bill with everything else at the end of the shoot.

Take a look through our catering options here or get in touch with Theo the Studio Manager here, and he’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.
